Frequently Asked Questions

Using HempMy Pet™ Products

No, HempMy Pet™ products are not psychoactive in any way, do not contain Marijuana nor are they Medicinal Marijuana products. Our products are made from Hemp, which has to have less than .3% THC by law, to be considered Hemp, and not Marijuana. Our “Hemp Extract” is derived from Hemp, which may have trace amounts of THC to begin with before extraction, but then after it is extracted and added into our products, it is even further diluted down by the carrier oils. THC does not show up on any of our third-party lab tests for all of our products. So, your Pet can’t get high off of these products, however, you may notice your pet feeling more calm and at ease, and older pets may be moving around more easily after use, this is most likely due to the other cannabinoids and terpenoids present in the products.

The suggested serving is on the label of each product. We have included a recommended serving size based on Pet weight. These are general guidelines only, we always recommend that you consult your vet if your Pet has a pre-existing condition and/or if you are planning on giving your Pet a higher amount than recommended on each product label. If your Pet is not responding as desired to the suggested serving amount, more can be administered as long as your pet is not showing any signs of adverse effects (i.e. lethargy, diarrhea, incoordination). Please refer to product label and product page for details on the specific product you are interested in.

All of our products can be administered orally, whether you chose to add to your Pet’s food, treats, or simply allow them to lick it out of your hand. It’s really up to your Pet, as they all seem to have differing preferences. The only thing we advise against is allowing your pet to lick the product right out of the jar or directly off the dropper, as the introduction of saliva into the product could potentially lead to contamination and cause degradation of the product (just the same as any human products).

This depends on the size/weight, species, metabolism of your Pet and their individual response to cannabis-based products. If more than the suggested use is consumed, there is a possibility that your Pet may be lethargic and / or in-coordinated for some time, until it metabolizes. There are no known long term effects. Please contact your veterinarian if you have concerns about your Pet having adverse reaction of any kind (i.e. lethargy, diarrhea, incoordination).

We only source the highest quality, human-grade ingredients, and never formulate with anything that we would not consume ourselves. We use Certified Organic ingredients, and our Hemp Extract is derived from Organically Grown Hemp that is never treated with pesticides or any other harmful products. All of our products are manufactured under CGMP guidelines for human dietary supplements (FDA) and to ensure quality, all batches are 3rd party tested for safety and purity. We have a vendor verification program which includes testing incoming ingredients before we even formulate with them, to ensure our suppliers are always providing a safe and top quality product with a Certificate of Analysis accompanying all ingredients. Furthermore, we have Certificate of Analysis verifying that our products are free of microbial growth and are safe for consumption. Hemp Seed Oil and Coconut Oil are the 2 main carrier oils in our products, they are not only safe for animals but recommended as part of a dietary supplementation. We recommend consulting your veterinarian with any questions regarding your Pet’s diet.

Of course! Everything is 3rd-party tested and COA’s are always available. On the site next to each product you’ll find a recent COA in the image section. As we do small-batch processing we have LOTS of COA’s and any customer that wants a copy of the COA for their specific order is welcome to contact support@hempmypet.com with your Order Number and we’ll send it right away.

Yes. Even though we are a Pet company, and formulate and manufacture products for Pets, all these products are made with human grade ingredients, and made under CGMP guidelines for dietary supplements. We do not use any additives, animal products, toxic or synthetic ingredients, and we always source Certified Organic or Organically grown ingredients.

We recommend that you consult your veterinarian when looking to use HempMy Pet™ products in conjunction with other Pet medications. We are not veterinarians and cannot make any claims that would diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition your Pet may have. When in doubt, please be safe and ask your vet.

Yes, that’s exactly how we recommend using these products, as a daily supplement. Just like humans, waiting until your Pet has an ailment makes it harder to recover, so start today!

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat cure or prevent any disease. Here are some of the ways our customers have been using our products as they have been so kind as to offer feedback regarding how they have been using HempMy Pet™ products: Anxiety relief, reduction in size of growths, reduction in occurrences of seizures, pain and inflammation relief, increase in energy and increase of mobility in older pets. Pet’s coats also appear to be shiny, and not as dry after taking the product consistently. These are just a few ways that HempMy Pet™ is positively effecting our customer’s Pets!

Please store all ingestible products in a cool and dark place, as heat and light will cause degradation of the product. Refrigeration is recommended, but it depends on your personal preference.

Full spectrum oil contains all of the terpenes and cannabinoids found in the plant. Full spectrum oil is by far the most medicinal and therapeutic oil. Full spectrum oil will contain traces amounts of THC, not enough to get your animal high. THC is an important part of the Entourage Effect which is ALL of the compounds working together synergistically. Broad spectrum oil is oil that has been distilled and refined in order to remove the THC. The oil is then put back together again forming a “broad” spectrum of cannabinoids and should include terpenes. Isolate is when either the CBD or CBG is isolated into a powder while all of the other beneficial compounds are removed.

What About Cannabigerol (CBG)?

CBG stands for cannabigerol. It is the precursor, or stem cell cannabinoid. to over 113 other cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, including CBD, CBC, and THC. CBG (cannabigerol) is present in virtually all cannabis plants, which include marijuana and hemp, in the beginning stages of the plants life and convert to other cannabinoids as the plant matures throughout the vegetative and flowering stages of the cannabis plants lifecycle.

Only a little, and certainly more studies are needed, but a recent study published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) “Cannabigerol (CBG) is another major phytocannabinoid having a pharmacological profile relatively similar to THC and CBD in relation to its CB-independent activities. CBG is non-psychotropic and does not bind or activate CB1 or CB2. However, CBG is antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory, as it inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced (LPS) release of proinflammatory cytokines and prostaglandin E2 in primary microglial cells, activates and attenuates murine colitis induced by intracolonic administration of dinitrobenzene sulfonic acid.”

CBD comes from CBG as CBG is the precursor cannabinoid to just about all other cannabinoids. CBG is usually found in lower percentages than CBD. To date there has been little research done on the benefits of CBG, it is actually more closely related to CBD than it is different.

THC actually comes from CBG, but CBD does not get you or your dog high. CBG binds to the CB2 while THC binds to the CB1 receptor, again meaning it does not get you or your pet “high”. There has been little research done to compare the medicinal differences of CBG and THC.

We always recommend consulting your veterinarian but to date no contrary indications have been found for CBG and horses.

We always recommend consulting your veterinarian but to date no contrary indications have been found for CBG and dogs.

We always recommend consulting your veterinarian but to date no contrary indications have been found for CBG and cats.

There has not been enough research done to determine which cannabinoid is better. Each have shown promising benefits and every pet and their needs are unique. Many are choosing to use a combination of CBD oil and CBG oil.

No animals are harmed in the manufacturing of our products.

In the animal rights movement, cruelty–free is a label for products or activities that do not harm or kill animals anywhere in the world. Products tested on animals are not considered cruelty–free, since these tests are often painful and cause the suffering and death of millions of animals every year.

No animal products or by-products used in any of our oils.

The only non-vegan product we have are the Pumpkin Hemp Dog Biscuits which do contain egg. (The Peanut Butter Banana Hemp Dog Biscuits do not and are also vegan.)

DEFINITION OF VEGAN VS. VEGETARIAN

Getting vegetarianism confused with veganism is a common mistake most people make. So today we are going to closely examine the definition of vegan versus the definition of a vegetarian in this post. Hopefully, this provides a little clarity.

DEFINITION OF A VEGETARIAN

The Oxford dictionary definition of a vegetarian is “a person who does not eat meat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain etc.”

This basically divides vegetarians into two groups; vegetarians who exclude eggs and dairy and vegetarians who include these items in their diets. The latter can then be broken up into a further three groups; ovo- vegetarians (who consume eggs but not milk), lacto-vegetarians (who consume milk but not eggs) and ovo-lacto vegetarians who consume both milk and eggs.

There’s often controversy surrounding “semi-vegetarians”, whose diet consists mainly of vegetarian foods but includes fish or poultry. The main differentiating factor between all of the above-mentioned groups is how much animal products are included in the diet.

DEFINITION OF VEGAN

The above difference is the main distinguishing factor between the definition of vegan and that of a vegetarian because vegans exclude animal products in their entirety. The official definition of veganism is “the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in a diet. As well as following an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of sentient animals.

A follower of veganism is known as a vegan”. That means veganism extends beyond the diet of a vegan individual. That is the biggest difference between vegans and vegetarians. While vegetarians may not consume animal products, they may use them if they are present in other products, such as items containing silk, honey or leather.

Vegans, on the other hand, avoid the use of animal products in all areas of their lifestyles.

All ingredients and manufacturing processes are Human-Grade. We would never make anything for our pets considered not suitable for ourselves. The term human-grade in pet food means the finished product is legally suitable and approved as nourishment for humans. It is “edible.” Human foods are much more rigorously regulated than foods made for animals.

All of our products are made with top quality, Certified Organic carrier oils and Organically-grown ingredients, all sourced responsibly and sustainably. Our products are infused with our own Full-spectrum Hemp extract which is derived from our own Organically-grown Colorado Hemp that was grown at our own facilities.

For consistency. HempMy Pet grows one particular cultivar of hemp, selected specifically for its cannabinoid profile, and uses it every time for our hemp extract, maintaining consistency and eliminating unknowing trial and error.

Cannabis strains including Hemp and Marijuana are either pure or hybrid of the plant genus Cannabis, which encompasses the species Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis.

Varieties are developed to intensify specific characteristics of the plant, or to differentiate the strain for the purposes of marketing or to make it more effective as a natural supplement. Variety names are typically chosen by their growers, and often reflect properties of the plant such as taste, color, smell, or the origin of the variety. These varieties have been cultivated to contain a high percentage of cannabinoids, including CBD, CBG, CBC and more. Several varieties of Cannabis, known as Hemp, have a very low THC content, and are instead grown for their fiber, seed and therapeutic propertiess

From Seed-to-Sale all HempMy Pet products are tested by reputable independent laboratories for purity, safety, and quality. The soil, the water, the plants and the finished product are all rigorously tested to ensure no solvents, pesticides, heavy metals or micro-bacterial contanimants are present. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are published online with each product and always available upon request.

All of our Hemp is organically grown in Colorado at our own greenhouse or farm. We do not import our hemp from overseas or any other state. We strive for perfection in our growing, curing, processing and formulating of our Hemp products.

Clinically studied by independent veterinarians and sold in veterinarian clinics nationwide.

All the Cannabinoids, CBD, CBG, CBC..plus the terpenes and other minor cannabinoids made from the Whole Plant for the complete entourage effect.

CBD has become quite popular over the last couple of years but despite what you might think it is only one of the 100 compounds that have been identified in the Cannabis Sativa L plant. Full-spectrum CBD oil, unlike CBD isolate products, includes a wide range of cannabinoids present in the cannabis or hemp plant. Depending on the condition and what you are looking to achieve it can provide a greater effect than CBD alone as all the cannabinoids work together in what is known as the entourage effect.

Full-spectrum CBD also contains a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein, chlorophyll, terpenes, flavonoids, and fiber. When referring to CBD in the hemp plant, it’s important to understand that Hemp contains a large number of cannabinoids (in trace amounts), but the main compounds are CBD and cannabidiolic acid (CBDa). As CBDa is more abundant in the hemp plant, firms must decarboxylate the oil. This process heats the oil and changes CBDa into CBD.

Just one last thing before we explain the benefits of Full Spectrum CBD oil, its important to understand that CBD from Cannabis is only legal in Medical or recreational states, while CBD hemp oil is legal in all 50 states under the 2014 US Farm Bill. While it may not be able to treat all conditions it has been known to assist with a variety of medical conditions including anxiety, depression and acute pain.

The Benefits of the Whole Plant

One of the most important studies relating to full-spectrum CBD oil took place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Hadassah School in 2015. It compared the performance of a full spectrum extract with one that contained CBD only. The study concluded that full spectrum was more effective when fighting pain and inflammation.

While CBD only is somewhat effective, the whole plant extract not only provided faster and better relief, the effects also lasted longer. This is why an increasing number of companies in the CBD industry are selling full-spectrum CBD oil as a rule.

The aforementioned entourage effect is the main reason behind the efficacy of whole plant extracts. There are over 100 ‘identified’ compounds in the cannabis plant. While most of these compounds have their own therapeutic benefit, they come together in a synergistic way to provide far better performance than any single compound, including CBD.
