Hemp seed oil is becoming a preferred carrier oil among animal CBD companies and veterinarians — because the carrier itself adds nutritional value, instead of just diluting the extract. Here's why we use it.
Why Hemp Seed Oil Is a Beneficial Carrier
Hemp seeds are a genuinely nutritious food — easily digestible protein, abundant healthy lipids, and insoluble fiber. Hemp seed oil is enriched with essential fatty acids (alpha-linolenic and linoleic acid) plus long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids — hemp is the only industrial oilseed crop that contains them. It also carries a diverse tocopherol (antioxidant) profile, terpenes, and flavonoids. In short, the carrier is doing real work for your pet, not just carrying the CBD.
Hemp Seed Oil vs MCT Oil
Many hemp companies use MCT oil as a cheaper carrier. Most MCT oil is derived from fractionated coconut oil or palm oil. Fractionated coconut oil is stripped of its lauric acid; palm oil carries a much higher saturated-fat profile and a heavy environmental cost through deforestation and habitat loss. Often consumers can't even tell which source an MCT oil came from — unless the manufacturer discloses it.
Sustainably Grown Hemp
Industrial hemp is good for the soil: it grows fast, suppresses weeds without herbicides, resists pests, and acts as a phytoremediator that helps prevent erosion and nutrient leaching. That's why where and how hemp is grown matters — we grow ours on our own certified-organic Colorado farm.
HempMy Pet's Full-Spectrum Hemp Seed Oil
We use virgin, cold-pressed, certified-organic hemp seed oil as a carrier for our full-spectrum hemp extract (CBD, CBG, CBC, terpenes, flavonoids, and more, under 0.3% THC) — synergized for the entourage effect — with certificates of origin and third-party testing on every batch.
