CBD isolate is purified CBD — typically 99%+ pure crystalline powder with every other compound in the plant stripped out. No minor cannabinoids, no terpenes, no THC.

HempMy Pet has never used isolate. But the case for it is not zero, and you deserve the real comparison rather than a strawman.

What Is CBD Isolate?

Isolate is made by extracting hemp and then refining away everything except the CBD molecule. What is left is a white powder or crystal that gets blended into a carrier oil.

It is odourless, tasteless, and cheap to produce at scale, which is why so much low-cost pet CBD is isolate-based.

What Full-Spectrum Keeps That Isolate Removes

Full-spectrum hemp extract retains the plant's whole profile: CBD alongside CBG, CBC, CBDV and CBN, plus terpenes, flavonoids and trace THC under the 0.3% legal limit.

The idea that these compounds work better together than apart is called the entourage effect. It is a reasonable hypothesis with real supporting work, and it is not fully settled — a 2025 canine pharmacokinetic study, for instance, did not find an absorption advantage for full-spectrum over isolate in beagles.

So we will put our position precisely: full-spectrum gives your pet a broader range of plant compounds that isolate deletes entirely. That is a compositional fact. Claims beyond it should be treated with care, including ours.

The Three Categories, Clearly

Isolate is CBD alone. Broad-spectrum keeps multiple cannabinoids but has the THC removed. Full-spectrum keeps everything the plant made, with THC below 0.3%. Cornell's Riney Canine Health Center uses the same three-way split.

When Isolate Genuinely Makes Sense

If you need absolute certainty that no THC is present — a competition or working-dog context with zero-tolerance testing, a jurisdiction with strict rules, or a pet your veterinarian has flagged as sensitive — isolate is a legitimate choice. We would rather you buy the right product than the one we sell.

Why We Chose Full-Spectrum

We breed our own hemp genetics, grow them on our farm in Longmont, Colorado using organic growing practices, and formulate every batch in-house. Having gone to the trouble of growing a whole plant, stripping it down to a single molecule made no sense to us.

We also put it to the test rather than assuming. Our 90-day canine study, overseen by internationally recognised veterinary pain-management specialist Dr. Robin Downing in collaboration with researchers from Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, enrolled 37 dogs; of the 32 that completed the study, 30 (93%) showed a benefit and 94% of owners reported improved quality of life.

How to Tell Which One You Are Buying

Read the certificate of analysis, not the front label. A full-spectrum COA shows a cannabinoid profile with several compounds present and a trace THC figure. An isolate COA shows CBD and essentially nothing else.

If a product claims "full-spectrum" and "zero THC" at the same time, one of those two statements is wrong. Every HempMy Pet batch is third-party tested and the results are published.

A Word on Safety and Your Vet

Cannabinoids are processed by the same liver enzyme pathway as many medications, so tell your veterinarian what your pet is taking. Published canine work has also noted elevated liver enzyme values in some dogs during supplementation, which is a good reason for veterinary oversight rather than a reason for alarm.
