Peptide Candidate Check for Dogs — Free Vet Review

Free · Reviewed by a veterinarian · No purchase

Peptides like BPC-157 and TB-500 are being used by integrative vets for cruciate injuries, post-surgical recovery, stubborn arthritis and gut inflammation — and they are wrong for plenty of dogs. Tell us about yours. A vet reviews every submission and replies within 48 hours with a plain answer: a peptide protocol, hemp, both, or a vet visit first.

We'll email you the review and may text if you leave a number. No spam, unsubscribe any time. Privacy. This is general guidance, not a diagnosis or a prescription; any peptide protocol is prescribed and dispensed by a licensed veterinarian.

Got it — thank you.

We'll review your dog's details and reply by email within 48 hours. If a vet needs more information — bloodwork dates, imaging, a current medication list — the email will say exactly what.

In the meantime, two reads: Peptides vs CBD for Dogs and Peptides for Dogs: The Owner's Guide.

Why a vet, not a vendor

BPC-157 and TB-500 are not FDA-approved for animals. The only lawful route is a licensed veterinarian ordering a compounded preparation. Research-only vials bought online are outside that, and nobody checks what is in them.

Why we ask about lumps

These peptides promote blood-vessel growth, which heals tissue and, in theory, feeds a tumour. About 1 in 2 dogs over 10 develops cancer. A senior with an unexplained mass is not a candidate until it has been worked up.

Why hemp is in the answer

We make hemp products and we say so. Hemp has five published canine arthritis trials behind it; peptides have none yet. For many dogs the honest answer is hemp first, and for some it is both. We'll tell you which.

About this page
Marc Brannigan
Co-Founder & CEO, HempMy Pet

Marc co-founded HempMy Pet in 2016 with his business partner Natalie Mondine, the company's COO. They were making the hemp oil for people first and bottled it for pets — one of the first CBD products made for pets. HempMy Pet breeds its own hemp genetics, grows them on its certified-organic Colorado farm, and formulates every batch in-house under human-grade standards — seed to sale, nothing sourced overseas. Every batch is third-party tested and the certificates of analysis are published. More about us.

The research behind our joint claims
90-day trial · Colorado State University

HempMy Pet ran its own 90-day study of 37 dogs with chronic joint discomfort. Of the 32 that completed it, 30 (93%) showed a benefit, and 94% of owners reported their dog's quality of life had improved. It was overseen by Dr. Robin Downing, DVM, MS of the Downing Center for Animal Pain Management, with Lori Kogan, Ph.D. and Peter W. Hellyer, DVM of Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, and published in the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. Read the methodology.

Why Dr. Downing: in 2005 she became only the third veterinarian in the world credentialed as a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. She founded the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, is a Diplomate of the ACVSMR, a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, and was the AVMA's 2020 Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year. Chronic joint pain is her life's work. Read the published paper (PDF).
